The 2011 Kamehameha Festival will be held on Saturday June 11, 2011 (Kamehameha Day) in Hilo, on Mokuola (Coconut Island) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Festival will feature four-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Mark Yamanaka. Other groups and hula hālau will include Komakakino, Ricky Alaniz, Stan Kaina and the ladies of Leo Nahenahe O Pohai Kealoha, Hālau Ha‘a Kea o Kinohi, and Hālau Ke Ola Pono No Nā Kupuna. The Festival will also feature cultural practitioners, an oli (Chant) exhibition, a Pū (Seashell) blowing contest for all ages, ‘ono (delicious) food, and “Hawai‘i-Made” arts and craft vendors.
The Festival Festival is presented by the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Māmalahoa, is free and open to the public, and remains an alcohol and tobacco free event. For more information, please visit the Festival website at KamehamehaFestival.org
